Why did you choose this career?
Do we ever chose these types of careers? When I look at myself and my colleagues, I think not. I think that these types of careers somehow chose you and like any career, once you find that you are good at something, you stick with it. I feel blessed to be supporting our individuals and their families. I can’t think of another purpose in life more rewarding. “Far and away the best prize that life offers, is the chance to work hard at work worth doing” – – Theodore Roosevelt.
In the every day of our jobs and lives, we strive to make a difference. Being recognized for my contribution to the field of developmental disabilities, servicing a community of the society’s neediest individuals is rewarding. I appreciate the the recognition and wonder where the years have gone. It has been a good way to spend the last 20 years of my life in service to the community. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Spare time? Who has spare time in this field? I do manage to spend time reading, biking and hiking. Our family gatherings are always a highlight. We spend time traveling together and enjoying the outdoors as a family. I am a Broadway enthusiast and enjoy all that the city has to offer. I remain active in my church learning and growing and serving the fellowship community.
