Please join us in congratulating Kyle Naversen for receiving the Above and Beyond Award for December. This monthly award is a great way for us to recognize and thank staff, students, volunteers, and the community who go above and beyond for the agency, helping to promote and raise needed funds for the program’s growth.
Kyle is the 17 year old brother of Genesis School student, Sierra. In an effort to help his sister and the Genesis Programs, Kyle began fundraising for Genesis last year as part of our Blazing Trails 4 Autism 4 Mile Run/Walk. In his first year fundraising for this event he raised $1,400. This year he once again created a fundraising page for the event and raised $2,605.
In 2013 with the help of Barbara Green, a former Genesis Behavior Specialist and current Special Education Teacher in the Bellmore/Merrick School District, he completed the four mile race, in 32 minutes and 41 seconds. He has trained hard for this year’s race and participated with Barbara Green’s help, to finish third in his age group, with a time of 31 minutes and 33 seconds.
Thank you to Kyle for helping Sierra and all the other Genesis students. We are all grateful for your kindness and generosity. Congratulations Kyle on setting a personal best at this year’s event and placing in your age group.
We are so very fortunate to have Kyle as a part of the Eden II family. As a recipient of the Above and Beyond Award, Kyle will be recognized on a permanent plaque on both Staten Island and Long Island.
