Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) Services support preschool students ages 3 to 5 who are classified by their school district’s Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) as a preschooler with a disability. Services are delivered by New York State–certified special education teachers and are individualized to meet each student’s unique developmental and educational needs.

SEIT services are provided in the student’s natural preschool or childcare setting and are designed to support successful participation in the least restrictive learning environment. Services may include:

Implementation of the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP)

Collaboration with preschool directors, classroom teachers, and related service providers

Coordination of educational goals across home, school, and therapeutic settings

Parent training, observations, and home visits to promote consistency and carryover

Development, coordination, and ongoing monitoring of behavioral and instructional supports
