Young learners on the autism spectrum have a difficult time expressing emotions and understanding socialization with their peers. This can lead to them engaging in maladaptive behaviors during the school day. This conference will review what social emotional learning is and how we as professions can teach emotional wellness to reduce anxiety and help our learners develop social problem-solving skills. The importance of self-advocacy skills and emotional intelligence with also be discussed.
